douz: the sahara's northern edge

6-8 women outside our door in the common space.
straw mat on cement floor.


goat.
they killed one every night for 5 days.
camel meat is top quality evidently, but expensive.
we ate goat
each day on cous cous or in tripe soup .

'twas of the uncle of a classmate. said classmate invited us 8 hours south to her family's home, for the 5-day wedding, at which we were special special guests. america. where is that? haha. not: america- oooo aaaah. they speak only arabic down there in the desert and treated us like more than family. reverently.
